ADMIRE THE CAPITAL’S COLONIAL CHARM
Mauritius may be bursting with luxury coastal resorts and picturesque villages, but its often overlooked capital is well worth exploring, as it is a world away from other experiences you will encounter on the island.
Port Louis sits on the north western side of the island and is a kaleidoscope of cultures. A walk around this city will highlight the capitals colonial charm. From imposing buildings, to the country’s largest mosque. It is a stark contrast to the more modern waterfront of the city, which houses the city’s cruise terminal, plus modern retail units and eateries.

Bois Cheri Tea Gardens is the biggest and the oldest of them all. Visit its museum to understand more about the importance of this plant to the island, and it is here you can enjoy a taste of multiple varieties of tea, from standard black tea to herbal varieties, all whilst soaking up impeccable views.

Mauritius is well known for idyllic beaches, and its no doubt that whatever type of traveller you are, or the type of holiday you are on, you will no doubt want to experience some of them for yourself.
No matter where you base yourself in Mauritius, there won’t be a beach far away! The beaches in the south of the island tend to be a little quieter, but the east boasts some of the best on the island. Whether you want to relax, or indulge in a little water sports, there is a beach for everyone in Mauritius.
PHOTOGRAPH LE MORNE BRABANT
Le Morne Brabant is hard to miss on the island of Mauritius. It’s the huge peak rising out of the shores of the southwest of the island, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so well worth visiting, or admiring from afar. Many people visit Mauritius to climb this imposing peak, which is tough and not for the faint of heart, and requires a local climbing guide, who can also help spot native flora and fauna en-route. If climbing isn’t your thing, we recommend a boat trip out on the southwestern shores of the islands to take you’re very best picture, or just soak in the views of this impressive and rugged mountain.
