Day 2 – Abord the Bernina Express

Today you will journey along the entire length of the Glacier Express route. Don't forget to capture the breathtaking views of the Landwasser Viaduct as you explore Switzerland by rail. Day 4 – Day Trip to Gornergrat
Following breakfast today you will embark on a remarkable journey aboard the Gornergrat Cog Railway. This 19th-century engineering marvel swiftly ascends from 5,262 feet above sea level to an impressive 10,135 feet in just 33 minutes. At the summit, you'll be greeted by one of Switzerland's most breathtaking panoramas. Take in the iconic silhouette of the Matterhorn along with the majestic neighbouring peaks and glaciers. Keep a keen eye out, for alpine creatures such as chamois (goat antelope) or marmot (ground squirrel) during your ascent or whilst exploring the surrounding nature reserve. (Overnight in Zermatt)
Day 5 – Montreux
Maximise the value of your Swiss Pass by taking a convenient train transfer in Visp to reach Montreux at a time that suits your schedule. After checking in at your hotel, explore the city to your heart's content. Consider a leisurely lakeside stroll to the enchanting Chillon Castle, or perhaps try your luck at the historic casino. In the evening, unwind with a drink at the renowned Jazz Café, steeped in musical history. (Overnight in Montreux).
Day 1 – Abord the Golden Pass Line (Montreux to Lucerne)
Indulge in a delicious breakfast at your hotel, and then embark on a short journey to Montreux, where your adventure continues aboard the GoldenPass Express train. The journey begins with a steep ascent, granting you captivating views of Lake Geneva and the Swiss Riviera on one side and charming sloping gardens on the other.
As the train continues, it passes through a mountain tunnel at Jaman before winding its way through Château-d’Oex and Gstaad. It reaches its zenith at an impressive elevation of 4,179 feet before arriving at Zweisimmen, where both the scenery and trains change. From here, the train meanders through the picturesque Simme Valley, leading you to Interlaken, nestled between the pristine Lakes Thun and Brienz.

Day 6 – Day Trip to Mount Pilatus
Today, embark on an extraordinary journey to the summit of the steepest cogwheel railway in the world. Begin your day with a scenic hour-long steam cruise on Lake Lucerne, taking you to Alpnachstad. From there, you'll board a 30-minute cogwheel railway ride. This remarkable railway operates between May and November, but during other times, you can reach the summit through a spectacular aerial gondola and cableway.
At the pinnacle, you'll discover the historic Pilatus Kulm Hotel and restaurant, offering a delightful place for refreshments. Alternatively, you can explore one of the numerous hiking trails, but be cautious of the legendary dragon said to possess magical healing powers and reside within the mountain. After taking in the breathtaking panoramic views, descend from the mountain massif via a jaw-dropping gondola and cable car to Kriens, followed by a short bus ride back to Lucerne. Day 8 – Day Trip to Jungfraujoch
This morning, you’ll head out on a brief journey to Interlaken, where you'll begin an extraordinary adventure aboard a historic railway line bound for Europe's loftiest railway station, situated at a staggering 3,454 metres above sea level. The Jungfrau Mountain finds itself nestled between the towering peaks of the Mönch and Eiger Mountains. The Jungfrau railway line covers the final 9km within a tunnel hewn through these two majestic mountains, offering awe-inspiring views through windows artfully carved into the mountainside.
Upon reaching the summit, you'll find yourself taking in the breathtaking panoramic vistas that, on a clear day, extend as far as the Black Forest of Germany and France. There's an intriguing ice sculpture gallery, an opportunity to walk on a glacier, a restaurant, and what is reputed to be the world's highest chocolate shop.
As you descend down the mountain, your route takes you through the picturesque village of Lauterbrunnen, where you'll be treated to a splendid view of a cascading waterfall. Enjoy your final evening in the enchanting medieval town of lakeside Lucerne. (Overnight in Lucerne)
Day 9 – Zurich
Following breakfast, check-out of your hotel, and begin your journey to Zurich Airport for your onward travel plans.
