Day 2 – Interlaken to Lucerne (GoldenPass Line)

Today, you’ll get to experience one of Switzerland’s most iconic rail journeys as you travel the entire GoldenPass line. Begin your day aboard the GoldenPass Express from Montreux to Interlaken, where you'll be captivated by stunning views of terraced vineyards, snow-capped peaks, and shimmering alpine lakes. As the train climbs through the majestic Alps, every turn offers a new breathtaking panorama.

Upon reaching Interlaken, continue your journey on the Luzern-Interlaken Express, taking in the lush valleys, picturesque villages, and rugged mountain landscapes that define the heart of Switzerland. This leg of the journey brings you to Lucerne, a charming lakeside city known for its medieval architecture and postcard-perfect scenery.

Day 3 – Lucerne (Mount Pilatus)

Today, embark on an extraordinary journey to the summit of the steepest cogwheel railway in the world. Begin your day with a scenic hour-long steam cruise on Lake Lucerne, taking you to Alpnachstad. From there, you'll board a 30-minute cogwheel railway ride. This remarkable railway operates between May and November, but during other times, you can reach the summit through a spectacular aerial gondola and cableway. 

At the pinnacle, you'll discover the historic Pilatus Kulm Hotel and restaurant, offering a delightful place for refreshments. Alternatively, you can explore one of the numerous hiking trails, but be cautious of the legendary dragon said to possess magical healing powers and reside within the mountain. After taking in the breathtaking panoramic views, descend from the mountain massif via a jaw-dropping gondola and cable car to Kriens, followed by a short bus ride back to Lucerne. Day 4 – Lucerne to Zurich 

This morning, board a comfortable Swiss train for a scenic journey from Lucerne to Zurich, Switzerland's largest and most vibrant city. As you arrive, you'll be greeted by a fascinating mix of modern innovation and historic charm. Explore the city by strolling through the winding streets of the Old Town, marvel at centuries-old architecture, and visit landmarks like the iconic Grossmünster. (Overnight in Zurich)

Day 5 – Zurich

Spend the day immersing yourself in the beauty and culture of Zurich. Begin with a guided walking tour through the city’s historic Old Town. Explore narrow, cobblestone streets lined with medieval buildings, visit famous landmarks such as the Fraumünster Church with its Chagall windows, and stroll along Bahnhofstrasse, one of Europe’s most exclusive shopping boulevards.

In the afternoon, relax aboard a scenic cruise on Lake Zurich. Gaze at the snow-capped Alps in the distance and soak in the serene beauty of the lake and surrounding landscape from the water.

Day 6 – Zurich to Chur

This morning, board a Swiss train for a picturesque journey from Zurich to Chur, the oldest city in Switzerland. As the train winds through lush valleys and alongside alpine rivers, you’ll be treated to stunning views of the Swiss countryside.

Upon arrival in Chur, take some time to explore this charming town, known for its well-preserved medieval architecture and vibrant arts scene. Stroll through the cobblestone streets of the Old Town, visit the Chur Cathedral, or relax at a local café while soaking in the historical ambiance.

Chur serves as your gateway to the majestic Bernina Express, but for now, enjoy a peaceful evening in this scenic alpine town, preparing for the awe-inspiring rail adventure that lies ahead. (Overnight in Chur).

Day 7 – Bernina Express Roundtrip

Today, embark on one of the most scenic rail journeys in the world with a roundtrip on the Bernina Express from Chur to Tirano and back. Enjoy panoramic views as the train winds through the Swiss Alps, crossing viaducts, passing glaciers, and descending into Italy. Marvel at the dramatic contrast between snow-capped peaks and lush valleys, and take in the breathtaking sight of the famous Landwasser Viaduct. Upon arrival in Tirano, enjoy some free time to explore this quaint Italian town before boarding the return train to Chur for another overnight stay. (Overnight in Chur)

Day 8 – Return Home
