Once you arrive in Milan, there is plenty to see and do. The city is famous for its magnificent Duomo, an architectural masterpiece that dominates Piazza del Duomo. Climb to the rooftop terraces for panoramic views across the city skyline and, on clear days, towards the distant Alps.
Just steps away lies the elegant Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, one of the world’s most beautiful shopping arcades. Beneath its soaring glass dome, visitors can browse luxury boutiques, pause for espresso in historic cafés, and soak up Milan’s refined atmosphere.
Milan is also home to Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper, one of the most celebrated artworks in history. Art lovers can explore world-class museums and galleries, while music enthusiasts may choose to attend a performance at the iconic Teatro alla Scala.
For a different perspective, wander through the charming streets of Brera, known for its artistic heritage and boutique-lined avenues. In the evening, head to the Navigli canals where locals gather for aperitivo beside the water, creating a relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere.
Whether you are passionate about art and architecture or simply enjoy elegant city living, Milan offers something for every traveller.
Travelling to Milan by train ensures your journey is as enjoyable as your stay. With excellent rail connections, train travel in Milan allows you to glide comfortably into the city without the stress of airports. Spacious seating, scenic routes, and central arrivals make it the perfect way to begin your Italian rail holiday.
Milan also serves as a gateway to northern Italy and beyond. With convenient train travel from Milan, visitors can extend their trip to the Italian Lakes, Venice, Florence, or even Switzerland.
One of the most scenic routes is the Bernina Express rail journey, connecting Italy and Switzerland through dramatic alpine landscapes. Travellers can journey north towards St Moritz, passing glaciers, mountain passes, and breathtaking panoramas along the way.
The Italian Lakes are also easily reached by rail from Milan. Lake Como, with its elegant villas and sparkling waters, makes for a perfect day trip or extended stay. Verona and Venice are equally accessible, offering romance and history just a comfortable train ride away.
