Travelling to Geneva by train means arriving in style while taking in some of Switzerland’s most captivating scenery along the way. The journey can be just as rewarding as the destination itself.
Once you reach Geneva, the city offers a blend of refinement, history, and natural beauty. Nestled on the shores of Lake Geneva and framed by mountains, the peaceful setting feels serene and open. The city centre is home to elegant boutiques, grand hotels and cultural treasures. From the winding lanes of the Old Town to the shores of the lake, there’s always something to explore.
One of Geneva’s most iconic sights is the Jet d’Eau, a powerful fountain that shoots water 140 metres into the air. It’s a fitting symbol for a city that is bold yet graceful. Take a lakeside stroll or enjoy a boat ride for fresh air and uninterrupted views of the surrounding Alps. These peaceful moments are part of what makes a Geneva rail holiday so rewarding.
Culture lovers will find no shortage of attractions. The city is home to museums and galleries filled with fascinating exhibits. Take a trip to the CERN or Palais de Nations (the United Nations Office at Geneva) for an educational sightseeing stint. Outside you can witness the iconic flags leading up to the building entrance whilst just across the street you cannot miss the large Broken Chair sculpture which stands as a representation of the consequences of armed conflict on civilians.
To continue your cultural journey around Geneva, you cannot miss a visit to the Museum of Art and History, or explore the Patek Philippe Museum to discover the story behind Geneva’s famous watchmaking heritage.
