Antigua's capital, St John's, has an abundant history with a mix of West Indian-style houses and British colonial buildings. Home to Nelson's Dockyard National Park, inscribed as a World Heritage Site, the park is a beautifully restored Georgian naval base combining history, heritage, beaches and sailing. The harbourside is alive with restaurants serving freshly-caught seafood such as lobster, oysters and red snapper.

The Shirley Heights 'jump up' kicks off every Sunday at 4pm. The island's best steel bands put on an excellent performance that will have you dancing with the locals.
