Experienced travel writer Laura Radford caught up with our founder Paul Tavener about his inspiration behind Marvellous Escapes and his vision for the company. Read on to find out more from this Q&A session.

What made you start Marvellous Escapes?

My passion for travel and love for talking about holidays was my main reason for starting Marvellous Escapes. But I also knew there was an opportunity for travel businesses following the pandemic, with pent-up demand from travellers who haven’t been able to travel as freely as they would have liked for the last few years. This increase in demand is coupled with the importance of customer service, expert advice, and accessibility for clients, which is why I created Marvellous Escapes.

With so many people looking for new experiences from a wider range of destinations, it's increasingly important that booking a holiday should be an enjoyable experience. Our focus at Marvellous Escapes is to provide expert, unbiased advice, and go above-and-beyond for our clients.

What previous experience do you have in the travel industry?

I have almost 20 years of experience in the travel industry. From starting out on the phones selling sun, ski and cruise holidays that were advertised on Teletext to leading large sales and operations teams for global tour operators. I’ve been lucky to work for a range of travel businesses from family-run agencies to huge travel & cruise companies, including Virgin Holidays and Viking Cruises.

What’s the Vision & Mission of Marvellous Escapes?

We are passionate about making the holiday experience an enjoyable one. From when a customer first submits an enquiry, until they return home. It’s our mission to always be flexible and available for our clients offering expert and unbiased advice so that they can tick more off their travel bucket list.

Our vision is to help more people create memories that will last a lifetime.

Marvellous! – We are passionate about listening to our clients and delivering outstanding levels of customer service. We understand the importance of trust, we spend time to ensure that anyone enquiring with Marvellous Escapes feels confident they have made the right decision.

How does Marvellous Escapes compare to other travel companies?

We are truly independent; we have access to over 400 suppliers meaning that we will never push someone into a particular holiday or supplier, our advice is always unbiased and tailored to each client.

We are also highly contactable; we want every client who enquires with us to be able to contact us at a time that suits them. From providing each client with a WhatsApp number to offering personal consultation bookings we ensure that we are here for everyone who wants to speak to Marvellous Escapes no matter what time of day.

What can your clients expect when they book a holiday with Marvellous Escapes?

Clients can expect us to listen and take a genuine care in getting every aspect of the holiday booking and travel experience right for them!
