WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE MOMENT/HIGHLIGHT OF THE TRIP?

There were so many highlights that it's hard to choose just one. Each of us had our own favourite moments. The kids had a blast splashing around in Lake Garda and appreciated the more relaxed pace there. My husband and I were captivated by the incredible sights and stunning architecture in the cities. We all thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour and gondola ride in Venice, and the excursion to the Amalfi Coast was a definite favourite for everyone.

WHICH DESTINATION(S) SURPRISED YOU THE MOST AND WHY?

I absolutely fell in love with Florence—I can understand why locals consider it the true capital of Italy. But in Rome, surrounded by so much history, it feels almost unreal to take it all in.

FAVOURITE ACTIVITY OR EXCURSION?

The Amalfi Coast is absolutely breathtaking, with its stunning beauty and idyllic charm. In Florence, we took a golf buggy tour, which was a lifesaver in the heat and allowed us to see much more than we could have on foot. The kids especially loved the thrilling speedboat ride around Sirmione in Lake Garda.

FAVOURITE FOOD FROM THE TRIP?

Every pasta dish we tried was incredible—my daughter was in heaven! The wide variety of gelato kept my son delighted as well. As a vegetarian, I found plenty of delicious options, while my husband enjoyed some amazing seafood. We were completely spoiled with culinary delights everywhere we went.

BEST/STAND-OUT SERVICE YOU RECEIVED DURING THE TRIP...

Our walking tour guide in Venice was outstanding—his English was impeccable, and his knowledge was impressive. The hotel staff everywhere we stayed were incredibly helpful, but the exceptional service came from Marvellous Escapes when we encountered an issue in Rome.

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THIS TRIP TO YOUR CLIENTS/FRIENDS/FAMILY?

We highly recommend this trip to anyone who enjoys a holiday with a mix of culture and adventure. If lounging on a beach isn’t your style, Marvellous Escapes is perfect for you. They truly catered to our preferred way of exploring the world as a family. We’ve already booked a similar holiday for next year, this time to the South of France and Barcelona. After experiencing such exceptional service on this trip, we’re confident and excited for next year, and many more trips to come.

An Italian adventure filled with beautiful weather, stunning sights, and plenty of gelato, creating lasting family memories.

WHAT WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE TRAVELLING BY RAIL?

The trains in Italy were reliable, clean, fast, and thankfully air-conditioned! We loved having a table on every journey, which allowed us to play cards and enjoy plenty of space to ourselves.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE ACCOMMODATION AND WHY?

Our suite at Hotel Albani in Florence was unlike anything we've ever experienced—we truly felt like royalty! The hotel itself was wonderful, with a delightful breakfast. Hotel Canada in Rome was also outstanding.

WHAT WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE OF BOOKING WITH MARVELLOUS ESCAPES?

From the moment we booked, we knew we had made the right choice with both our holiday and tour operator. Communication was excellent, and everything was clearly well-organized. We encountered one unexpected issue in Rome, but Paul and Hayley resolved it with lightning speed. Having someone just a phone call away to assist with any problem is invaluable—it allowed us to fully relax and enjoy our holiday.
